Sedgwick County Jail

Visitor Policy

Interview with Roderick

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Roderick: You are allowed to receive visitors once a week for one hour for regular inmates, two hours for pod workers and for trustees visitation is Monday thru Friday four hours a week. Visitors must be designated by you and you are allowed to assign four names per week. Anybody not on your visitation list is turned away unless they have out of town identification in which case a special visit may be allowed.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Roderick: Not usually. There is a large sign in the waiting room stating that if you have waited for more than 20 minutes to let them know and they then call up to the inmates pod to find out what they delay is.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Roderick: Long rows of cubicles with thick glass partitions and telephones that are often static riddle or short out. For inmates who have small children visiting with an adult they can assign a cubicle that is larger and has two phones so two people at a time can talk.

if i go to ferdonia county jail with four people that is not on the list then will we all get the special visit
